GAND Awards Nominations

It is time to vote! The deadline to vote for GAND Awards for your fellow RDs is approaching and we want everyone to have their voice heard in this process. This is a great opportunity to allow those in our profession who are doing an outstanding job to be recognized. Outstanding Dietitian of the Year (ODY) - This award is given to an RD who has contributed significantly through leadership, service, professional work experience, scholarly activities, and has been active in their community.


Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year - This award goes to someone who is just beginning their career as an RD but has shown outstanding leadership and concern for the promotion of health and nutrition in their community.


Recognized Dietetic Technician of the Year - This award is given to a Dietetic Technician who has shown outstanding leadership and drive to promote health and nutrition in their community.


Emerging Dietetic Leader - This award is for new RDs of any age who are starting out their career.


Outstanding Dietetics Educator – Given to an outstanding RD in academics.


Outstanding Dietetics Student – Given to an outstanding student in an accredited dietetics program.


Distinguished Service Award to a District – This award recognizes a member for dedicated and distinguished service to a district association.


Distinguished Service Award to a Researcher – Given to recognize a dietetics professional for their dedication to the dietetics profession through past, current, or on-going research related to food and nutrition.


Distinguished Service Award to a District – This award recognizes a member for dedicated and distinguished service to a district association.


Special Recognition Award – This award is given to retiring Georgia Academy members over the age of 55 who have been members of Georgia Academy a minimum of ten years.


Distinguished Service Award for Media Excellence – This award will be given for consistent nutrition reporting which covers current issues and concerns important to the citizens of Georgia; is scientifically accurate; regularly and reliably quotes/positions dietetic professionals of the Georgia Academy as the experts; offers balance and perspective; and is creative in presentation.


Distinguished Service Award to a Grassroots Effort – This award recognizes a member for a grassroots effort at the local level
